Institute for Contemporary History

is a research institution dedicated to furthering the understanding of the recent past, facilitating the study of political, social, economic and cultural history in the context of Serbian, Yugoslav, Balkan, European, and global society.

Founded over half a century ago, the Institute builds on those traditions. Scholarly activity in the Institute is conducted in accordance with our program, through research projects and the development of scholarly cooperation. Our results are presented through our publishing activity, the organization of international, regional and local scholarly symposia, as well as the publication of our journal "Istorija 20.veka" (History of the 20th Century).

Located in downtown Belgrade, at 11 Nikola Pašić Square, (Trg Nikole Pašića 11), the Institute hosts a rich library, a documentation and digital center, thus fostering professional access to our work and promoting public interest in the recent past.
