Institute for Contemporary History
is a research institution dedicated to furthering the understanding of the recent past, facilitating the study of political, social, economic and cultural history in the context of Serbian, Yugoslav, Balkan, European, and global society.Founded over half a century ago, the Institute builds on those traditions. Scholarly activity in the Institute is conducted in accordance with our program, through research projects and the development of scholarly cooperation. Our results are presented through our publishing activity, the organization of international, regional and local scholarly symposia, as well as the publication of our journal "Istorija 20.veka" (History of the 20th Century).Located in downtown Belgrade, at 11 Nikola Pašić Square, (Trg Nikole Pašića 11), the Institute hosts a rich library, a documentation and digital center, thus fostering professional access to our work and promoting public interest in the recent past.

On Thursday, February 13, the Institute visited prof. dr Dragi Gjorgiev, Director of the Institute for National History in Skopje. On that occasion, the Agreement on Scientific Cooperation was signed.

On Monday, February 10, 2020, a promotion of the book "Ranković - The Second Man" was held in the Little Hall of Kolarac's Endowment, authored by the Principal Research Fellow of the Institute for Contemporary History, Dr. Bojan Dimitrijević.

Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development awarded prof. Dr. Momčilo Pavlović, Senior Research Fellow, Svetosavska Prize for continuous work on the advancement of science and history teaching in Serbia.

The promotion of the book of associates of the Institute, Dr. Srđan Cvetković and Nemanja Dević, "OZNA - Repression of the Communist Regime in Serbia 1944-1946" was held on January 24 at the premises of the National Library "Đura Jakšić" in Petrovac on Mlava.

On Wednesday, December 25, at the premises of the Parish House of the St. Sava Temple in Belgrade, a promotion of the book "OZNA - Repression of the Communist Regime in Serbia 1944-1946", by Dr. Srđan Cvetković and Nemanja Dević, was held.

On December 17, associate of the Institute Nikola Mijatov defended his doctoral dissertation and earned the title of Doctor of History.

The Institute's delegation, made up of Director prof. dr. Predrag J. Marković, Deputy Director dr. Bojan B. Dimitrijević, Senior Research Associate dr. Milan Gulić and research assistant Nebojša Stambolija, was in a scientific visit to Banja Luka on December 12-13th.
